Aerogarden is a hydroponic /aeroponic growing system, which is a method of growing plants without soil. The growing environment is comprised of water, nutrients and oxygen.

AeroGarden Plant Nutrients
The Aerogarden comes with liquid nutrients that provide plants will all of the nutrition they need. The nutrients are a proprietary blend that will bring the water pH into proper range. You can also purchase the nutrients separately to extend the life of your plants. When using the nutrients, you will want to get rid of any water that is remaining in the system, then add the nutrients as directed to fresh water. Next, add the water that contains the nutrients to your system. You can also purchase UltraGrow Liquid Nutrients, which also work well with the Aerogarden system. UltraGrow will require you to identify which growing phase your plant is in, such as seedlings, transitioning to blooming or blooming.
The AeroGarden Grow Light
Each Aerogarden kit comes with its own grow light developed especially for the system. These are full spectrum lights that provide the appropriate amount of light that is needed for rapid, lush and sustained growth. A full spectrum light comes the closest to natural sunlight, duplicating more than 90% of the sun’s solar spectrum. The lights will need to be replaced approximately every six months. Additional lights can be purchased for minimal cost.
How the System Operates
Once the seed pods have been placed into the system, a gallon of water is added to the tank. When the system is turned on it, will pump the water up to the top of each seed pod, where it will flow into the foam that encases the seeds. The system will keep the foam moist, and excess water will fall back into the system. Aerogarden automatically determines the quantity of water that is necessary for the type of seeds that are being used. The system will also turn its light on or off depending on whether it is daytime or evening.
